Ok, so i've offered to help Tuesday Wildchild here so please don't shoot me down in flames, also if any of the original organisers want to take the reigns please feel free, i've only attended the last show and i don't want it to die on it's arse but it does seem that the organisation has drifted and if someone doesn't push it it will fold, Tuesday is happy to liase with "the originals" via J.K and i'm very good at organising stuff so i'm happy to do what i can, that said we can only do this with help and some basic commitment from those who want to learn how to do jobs or even just have a helping or guiding hand with a job they aren't confident to do alone.
Please continue to vote on the main thread http://thelatebay.com/index.php?topic=10861.0 as Tuesday needs to book the site with Eddie soon and use this thread to let us know the basic outline of what would bring you to the event, it isn't going to have burger vans or bouncy castles it's not going to be a show but if you want advice or help or just to chill with like minded people this is for you, the campsite itself has plenty of pitches and pubs etc close by so even if you fancy a weekend away with the wife or lover then you don't need to fix your van..... this would also help the costings although to be fair it's cheap enough anyway, i've asked Tuesday to contact Eddie for prices based on block bookings (example if only 10 turn up it's £15 each a night etc etc or if 50 turn up it's £10) these figures are an example only i'm just speculating at the moment, what i need from people who want to come are clear ideas of what they want to learn or if they are happy to just be guided, also if anyone who has experience enough to teach a few classes like points setting or oil changing for example your help would be greatfully recieved. If anyone has any ideas on this event that can keep it going let's hear it, it's a brilliant idea and it's a shame to let it fade out.
I will repeat again for those who feel i'm sticking my oar in, i've been asked to help or it may die a death, but, if anyone who is more organised or has attended more of these wants to take over from Tuesday, or even if any of the original guys want to pick it up again i'm happy at that, just let us know on here so it keeps going one way or the other. Ta Rick.

To be fair, it's been happening for years. 1 TechEnders without really enough teaching isn't going to kill it off.

  5. Main things I'd like to learn are setting the timing and getting an engine running as it should, and electrics. But I'm also willing to listen to anything else that people are willing to teach me, general maintenance etc. also maybe partake in a few choice beverages!

This is the type of event that I would like to attend. I only missed this one because I had already booked for Elemental. I have read through the post and would like to add that most of the camping that I have ever booked has been payment up front long before arrival and nonrefundable under any circumstances. This is a bit harsh when you have payed for a week away then can't make it with good reason, but surely when you are talking 2/3 nights at £15 to £20 with a fair and reasonable guy...you should give the guy the money up front and let him keep it if you don't show up. Bare in mind the pitches could have been booked up by some diehard camper who doesn't give a flying..about the weather.

In short cash up front no refunds.

  8. I would love this event, and intend to go to the next one, but it would certainly attract me even more if there was a specific Novice section so I could feel comfortable asking ridiculously stupid, basic questions without being laughed at.

i don't belive the cash up front thing is a good idea, apart from organising it there is a possibility it could put people off who want to turn up on the hop so to speak, i belive eddie is quite happy to break even due to being a vw nut himself, and if we did the option of maximum price is £X per night and it may even be £Y if more turn up we will know where we stand, i'm pretty convinced that 15 vans minimum would come even if it was just to talk the talk and catch up so if the price is based on that it would be cheap enough, as a rough guide i paid £24 for 2 nights this weekend (with hook up) - this included the use of a barn with ramp if reqiured, free gas heating and barbeque equiptment in the barn should the weather be rough, if this wasn't used (it was) eddie was going to refund part of the £24 cost.

  17. Ricky my old son. Good on you for putting out the voice. I'd be up for it, I can only teach the ways of the force, but let's why not grab a Haynes manual and make a night of it with a few friends. :)

Ha that's the spirit guys, we will sort this one way or another, it does seem that a lot of people want to learn but just lack the hand on the shoulder to help the confidence...... let's do this thing!
