I made some gutter rail clamps to miss the Devon poptop. I will be bringing them with my awning to Techenders.

Not sure if this helps.................. I researched/tried/looked at allsorts of ways and designs, but was either not happy with how it looked (cheap and tatty) or how secure it was (blow off and damage the bus)
In the end I chose this https://camperessentials.co.uk/shop/awning-rail-vw-t2-bay-window/
They are at shows sometimes, so saves on postage, or if your down south, they will fit it for you.

It's not cheap - £75, but it's very sleek looking and polished, with smooth chamfered type edges to guide beading in easily. Worth the money in my opinion - as it's permanent - it's got to be safe and look nice.
The fixing screws are inside the awning rail channel, so not visible, and silicone was used in the drilled holes (making it safer and water tight) and also to fix it on as well as screws .
When you looked at the high top, you could hardly see it, as its only 12mm.

I bottled out of drilling the fibre glass myself, and got a camper conversion garage local to me to fit it. With 3 of them drilling and measuring it, they got it perfectly straight. :D:thumbsup:

  3. Cheers @mikedjames i'll check them out at TE
Cheers @Babble that looks like the sort of stuff that might work, if it can fit out of sight in the gutter somehow
Cheers @paul2590 thanks for the link. Probably best in one continual strip for my needs though

Look forward to seeing you all soon

  7. I remember that - I certainly won't be going down the domed canopy route

  8. I just don't put the top up, will need a different solution when I do.

  13. That pole is too big for the gap in between the devon roof and the gutter

I'm sure somewhere I had a piece of paper with some hastily scribbled measurements on it, along with the dimensions of pictures I've never got around to framing, flight times to the costa del sol, and how to hack a Blu-ray player for multi-region, but damned if I can find it..... so a quick torchlight venture onto the driveway with a tape measure (but sadly not my glasses as I can't find them either) leads me to believe there is about 13mm of gap between gutter edge and pop top base at the smallest bit. Not a lot.

Having hijacked the techenders thread, is it possible for a lovely mod to move this awning / guttering stuff into a mech tech thread of it's own?

  18. don't worry about hijacking the thread, at least it's VW related!

My issue is the gap on mine is not even or consistent, so I doubt a pole will work

As well as investigating awning rails, I wonder if anyone has any awning suction cups/clamps that we can try out at techenders?
