Not trying to invent work, but would a list of tools you might need for annual servicing be a good idea to publish?

I know it's good to borrow, but equally it can be empowering to own a basic set of tools maybe that you take with you and cut down on reliance on the big yellow taxi should you break down and it's a simple issue.

Not saying specialist stuff or making it a requirement to bring tools.

Happy to be shot down if it's a bad suggestion.

I think that's a good idea. Also a list of consumables for a full service.

    Just for @Moons

    Tool list
    For 3000 Mile/3 Month Service:

    Large straight blade screwdriver
    Medium straight blade screw driver
    10mm socket or ring spanner
    19mm socket or ring spanner
    13mm ring spanner
    Spark plug socket
Feeler gauge (there will be sets available but worth getting your own)
Jack and axle stands(plus something sturdy to support them on) – remember we are on grass so you need a sturdy platform for any jack/axle stands you may want to use. (I’ll have a jack you can share if required)
Timing/strobe light(a few of us will have these with us if you dont want to buy one)

Something to drain your old oil into and carry home for disposal(old bowl/oil can etc) – and not over the camping field!!!!!!
Something to put your new oil in with(1lt pop bottle etc) – because it’s a pain to refill with a big container!!
Grease gun – (Again there might be some available - worst case we will show you where to grease and you can do it away from TE)

    Parts
A set of points and a condensor (unless you've got getting leccy ignition)(You could also replace your distributer cap/rotor arm and plug leads if you want to,it just depends how old yours are)
    Set of spark plugs
Rocker cover gaskets (x2) - New rocker cover clips might be a good idea, too!
Oil drain gasket set and a replacement strainer if you don’t want to clean the old one.
    Oil
Small can of multi purpose oil
    LM grease

(all parts should be ordered for your model/year/engine size)

    BRAKE SERVICE

    Feeler gauge
    10mm spanner or socket
    Large straight blade screwdriver
    Hammer
    Long slim punch/drift
    Pliers
Wheel brace or 19mm socket and braker bar
Jack and axle stands(plus something suitable to place them on) – as above remember we are on grass!

A full set of front friction pads (or shoes for splits/early bays)
    Fitting kit for front pads/shoes
    Full set of rear shoes
    Fitting kit for rear shoes
    Copper slip/grease
May want to consider new star adjusters, spare castle nut if removing (ie if replacing more than just your brake shoes) and new split pins for castle nut.

    LEISURE BATTERY INSTALL:

    Relay and mounting screws
(either from a scrapyard or from an electrical supplier)
Selection of Spade type connectors (buy a crimping kit!ijb)
    Some PVC Tape
Selection of Red and Black wire - 30a and 15a
    Leisure Battery (or Car Battery)
Battery Box if mounting under the R&R
2x In line blade fuse holders
    2x 30a blade fuses
Aux Fuse Box (JK do these)
    Aux Fuse Box Connector Strip
Aux Fuses, selection of sizes to match above
You can get the inline blade fuseholders and quick-release clamps like I used fromwww.towsure.com

Tools - Crimpers, Wire Cutters, Pliers, Screwdrivers etc. The tutor has a set of decent quality crimps that you are welcome to use.

A complete set of very high quality components required to complete an install can be ordered for £45 for collection on the day. The kit comprises high-quality fuses and holders, relay, cabling, fuse box and quick release battery clamps. If you would like one, please email adrian@caravit.com for more info

    FOR EVERYONE:

Something to kneel down on/crawl under van on (ie large piece of cardboard) is also a good idea.

    Old clothes/overalls

Rag/rubber gloves/barrier cream/hand cleaner its up to you if you want to bring your own.

Dont worry if you forget or cant get any of the tools as people tend to share to help each other out but please make sure you have all the parts on the lists for the jobs you want to complete and also ask the experts on here if any other parts are required for the other little jobs you need/want to do.
