  15. I have cleared this with the mrs as an OK to go. But have to sweet talk a colleague to cover my on call.

Anyway will there be some demo's. really want to learn how to do a decent service on the bus but am a bit unsure where to start. Don't really want to be stuck in a field drinking beer and giving up n the bus and not able to get home.

I see there is a barn so maybe some demos and Q & A's with people who know what they are talking about instead of my local mech shaking his head and telling me "it is gunna cost a lot of money as I have to take the engine out again."

Am desperate to get to one of these.

@davedub If enough people wish to service then some more organised teaching will happen, if not someone will guide you personally. What you want to do is exactly what this event is for.
No-one gets stuck. I don't drink (though I might have a cheeky beer or two one evening).
Everyone - If you're dropping your oil please bring something to keep it off Ed's grass and a container to take your old oil away in. :)

  17. Cheers for that @zed maybe an idea if enough people brought parts with them it could be a group thing with some skilled people looking on and pointing at us novices. I was thinking.
    ~fuel filter
    -oil and gasket
    -ht leads
    -rocker gasket
    -rotor arm
    -points, condenser

And obviously relevant tools. I am sure I am missing a few bits on this quick list already. Maybe if there where enough interested in doing this type of thing

We used to have maybe 10 people all learning to service their buses who would park together. First they'd change the oil. When done we'd go through setting valve clearences after which they go and do it with checking they were doing it right. When they were all finished we'd move onto the timing etc This worked well, but lately there haven't been enough doing it to warrent the organisation. If there are only one or 2 it's easier to do them seperately. Quite a lot of people who did learn, do their servicing at TE every year or twice a year and help people who haven't done it before. It's quite organic in that way.

So we'll see who wants to do what and act accordingly. :)

  19. I can do the simpler jobs, oil change, HT leads etc. but setting valves and timing has always flummoxed me. I'd be up for some group therapy on this.
