  12. I’ve officially broke my Techenders cherry and it’s nice to put faces to names (but I feel sure I’ll forget who’s who).

My speedometer now works great and no longer goes up and down with the bumps in the road (thanks @paulcalf for letting me view how yours was routed and for the loan of the 30mm spanner).

After removing my rocker shaft to fit the new thrust washers and making the mistake of not noting which rocker went where (I had to use chrome cleaner on the shaft so as to get all the crud off and be sure everything could slide on as it should) I did get it back together.

But once the rocker shaft assembly was back on I realised there was no adjustment on the exhaust valve of No4 cylinder.

I know that in the past shims were put under the rocker shaft feet as the valve seats had been cut too deep but it looks like the exhaust valve on No4 is pulling through the valve seat.
The loan of a hacksaw blade as a straight edge (and a file to clean up the tappets) it appeared to show how much higher the spring/valve of the No4 exhaust is.

In a bid to get some valve clearance I ended up taking the rocker for the high valve to Eddies garage and ground a bit of metal off where the tappet petrudes and this gave the clearance I needed so that I could set the tappets.

I have driven home quite tentatively expecting the worst to happen but I seem to have made it back without incident.

Look forward to meeting you all again.....hopefully I won’t have to
spend so long working on the van again.

Good afternoon TLB friends!! What a fab weekend! I’m pleased I ditched Man Utd :).

At dads now, I’m about to take him out in the van :). No easy task getting him into it and he will probably tell me off as it’s such a tip inside!!

I had a good drive down, saw Jamie in his burgundy van at a services :)

I had an awesome and productive time, Landmark reunion was ace, cheers @Lord Congi hope your back is ok.

    Hasta proxima:) xx
