It was a simple question, are the bits out there to adjust gearing or not, if not then 55 is fine! Just would be good to use her full potential.
Sorry too. Think the answer is as earlier if you have the ponys then a late box is the thing tbh. I have seen a thread somehwhere relating to building the later ratios into a 1600 box. Im sure it was here but that does sound expensive. Incidentally there are still idiots that sell late baxes for peanuts. I sold two last year for less than £200
Taller 4th gear? I've heard that 091 boxes fitted to Australian buses were slightly longer geared in 4th, giving slightly lower revs at cruising speed. I've always wanted to know if this was true and was going to ask the question on an Ozzy Kombi site. Never got round to doing it.
I know mine used two tanks of fuel to get to silverstone and back!!! Was running crappy empi carbs back then tho.
