You need bigger bangs if there aren't so many so same heat. Slower cooling fan. Don't see why you can't change the pulley size to compensate, or fit a slightly shorter fan belt and more spacers would have the same effect.

  4. If you rev the engine out there is wasted energy which is heat! Try driving your bus everywhere in 1st and see how long it takes to self destruct. Its not just the heat - the wear increases with the revs. Remember the componenets are selected for the job - thats why you uprate when you tune a motor for increased output. Lots of revs - lots of fuel and worn out components. Lower revs less strain on components and if sufficient power then less waste. If yer in 4th at low revs as you have more torque then theres less strain on the motor than revving out in 3rd. However if in 3rd with a taller gear or bigger wheels then less revs. torque reduced though for a given output.

    I think

  5. I know what the running temp is but there hot and there hot, if I sat at 80 for more than 10 mins on a normal day my oil temp keeps rising and I mean past 120 easy!

  6. My bus gets regular jaunts at 70 to 80 for prolonged periods. No idea how hot it gets but it does cook seals and to combat this I have a semi-full-loss lubrication system (ie ive got a few leaks that are worse after agod thrashing!)

  8. Tbh honest I've blocked my fan take offs off to put as much air past the motor as poss, still dont answer the ratio parts question ;D

  11. Oh I know but we all get excited don't we! Would be nice to cruse with a few less revs on.

  12. so you don't think much of racing your mate up a hill at 85 then

  15. I think the second post on this topic answered the question. Where's fifth gear mr Porsche!

  16. still in mr Porsche's car

  18. My addled brain has worked it out. If your doing 80 down the road or you feel that you need more oomph from your bus. Then your driving the wrong vehicle. These are classics and should be treated as such.

  19. Don't want 80 - 65 with steady revs is what Im after, is that to much to ask :D
