A mate has just destroyed his ( recently replaced) T25 engine and is on the lookout for as good a replacement as possible .

I'm waiting for him tell me specifically what it is , I just know its (was) a dirty smokey diesel thing...

He is best looking for an AAZ coded 1.9TD engine - they were usually in Golfs and similar in the late 90s.

Are the golf engines a straight forward swap?

He wouldn't be doing it himself ...so it shouldn't be too much hassle for a decent mechanic I presume?

  7. @carlot25 has one in his

I did a swap a few years ago, but it was 1.6 non turbo for 1.9 non turbo - that wasn't that difficult. It gets a wee bit trickier if you are upgradig to a turbo engine or a wee bit more tricky a TDi as you have a few leccy/electronics to contend with.

  9. I agree totally apart from the "I" as my mechanic did it and it was from a 1.6.TD to a 1.9 non T. Oh, and it was from a Passat I think but then my mechanic would know.

Bit of a backwards step doing that, but I guess you just needed an engine.

I've passed the information over to him ...I'll see what he does next, @davidoft is your engine for sale? If so, would you mind fleeting me know what sort of money , mileage etc etc ?

  14. Ah. Forgot to add the T of TD was in name not in practice hence why it was replaced. Either that or get an industrial rear screen wiper to dislodge the caked on oil and fuel.
