Apologies if there's already a thread on this...had a look but couldn't see one.

After driving my other halves van a few times (dottydaisy), I think bertha needs some extra grunt. The engine's got to come out anyway for welding so might put something bigger back in.

My question is how much hassle is it to fit a T25 2.0L, gearbox mating, clutch, exhaust, clearance etc.

Cant imagine there can be too much difference but bet off asking the experienced first.

    Over to you,,,,cheers :)

So is it a straight swap? Will it mate straight up with the box and mounts

Ideally if you are going to upgrade the engine to 2l you'd want to upgrade the gearbox accordingly too.

You can put the T25 engine straight in but the gearbox will not.

Cheers, is there a better option than the 2.0L which doesn't involve a major headache?

  8. Pretty sure it.goes.straight on, but you may have to.shorten the output shaft from the gearbox.

  9. I think the type 25 gearbox selector shaft comes out the side so is a lot different to type 2. I have read somewhere that it is possible to convert the box by changeing the nose over but i don't think its a simples job else with the price of 2 litre boxes everyone would be doing it !

  11. Having bought a bus with a very badly fitted T25 engine- the tinware is very different and unless someone takes a mallet (!) to the surrounding metalwork there is no clearance for the fan attached to the front of the alternator.
I believe the engines (CU code) were the same between the T2 and T25 but bits and pieces are different.
