T2 Fuel Pump

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by Traff, May 20, 2019.

  1. Hi All,
Went to get Kimchi back out of hibernation at the weekend and eventually discovered that the fuel pump seems to be just pumping oil and not fuel... I feel the time has come for an electric fuel pump to be fitted to my 1700 engine. Any suggestions of what make and supplier to go for?

dont by an £18 facet copy off ebay, on my third, one lasted 12 miles... the other a temperamental 1500 miles .. just swapped the last cube for a more substancial and much more expensive lucas pump .. so far so good .. but probably jinxed it now..

PS dont waste yur doe on a FACET one either, I thik they are chinese with facet stickers there just as bad as the cheap knock offs..

I went for the Carter rotary pump. Comes with built in regulator and metal filter. About £80-90.

  4. Thanks for the replies. The Carter looks to be too meaty for my standard engine-I’ll probably go through Just Kampers and get their electric pump.

A Carter rotary pump is perfect for your type 4 engine. An electric pump from JK might not be.
