I was going to use your 'charm' as a bargaining tool. 'well if you don't like my offer, I know a man who will pay you less...'
Well The super hidden possibly mythical syncro lead hasn’t come to anything so far so I went shopping Needs a couple of things doing for an MOT but not a lot. (That I can see but I have been wrong before). Still it’s got knobbly tyres and that is all that matters at the mo. (Maybe needs even more knobbly tyres but let’s just get it on the road first eh - Calm down ffs.
glad you bought that @Mattlad i was tempted. it will indeed be a money pit, my non-syncro doka has just eaten a considerable amount of my money just to do all the front suspension bushes. everything on a syncro is harder and more expensive and more seized.
Chap I’m buying off has done all the bushes front and rear with some of the yellow ones here and there. Had it up on a lift to see the underside and the bits that have been changed. Ball joints look new VC has been refurbished at Holman engineering along with a 711 shifter fitted (whatever that is!) diff lock engages. Gearbox not making any weird noises and bearings changed it in that and the front diff but there’s a lot to go wrong He’s an army vehicle mechanic who’s bust his knee and awaiting surgery so clearing out all his stuff as he can’t drive a manual or work on them He didn’t think he’d sell it. He had to chop in his manual S3 for an auto. I’m sure it’ll Marmite itself and cost a bomb!
I think we need to move on from this now. They were rather large though Has anyone told @Mattlad about the late bay syncro yet?
