Yeah, welI I just bumped it up a kerb on Frday. I felt like Ari Vatanen.

 

Putting a few miles on this week while the Scudo of Doom is having MOT repairs.


Ideal height for bags of plaster for an old man with knackered back.

 

I can't believe how much luggage space is in a caravelle and still have room for 7 people to comfortably travel. I've had ours filled to the brim with luggage, 5 people and a couple of dogs and still had room under the middle seats for a couple of 24 packs of beer.
The new corolla is full to the brim with 1/2 the amount in it.

 

It is quite a practical thing really. If I can get it working how I want then maybe the Mondeo gets the boot.
The seat rails that the middle seats slide into arrived today so I’ll get those fitted this weekend then the kids can argue about who sits where!

I didn't realise you were missing the middle seat rails. I've still got a set in the corner of my shed you could have had. Finding the fixings that stop the seat sliding back off the rails was a PITA when i got mine. Took months to find them.

 

Yup- put them in on my new rail things and just registering as an UBER XL now.

 

Ah well- I picked a set up for not much - think I have all the fixings with them. Clamp things to stop sliding about?

What was fun was after the first family trip in the van all going well, I popped over to a job last night to see how walls were drying out and thought I’d go for a quick blast up the M32 and back as it was kinda on the way. wanted to see how it cruised one motorway speeds. Got back to a mile away from my house and a nasty grinding clanking sound starts. Thought I’d stuff the ‘box sooner than I’d hoped...,


Turns out after pulling over and crawling around one of the driveshafts was on its way to falling off. Not lost any bolts so nipped them up as best I could using my fingers and got home.... not had chance to get back yet to get the torque wrench on all of them!!

 

Sounds like a lucky catch.
I remember reading about someones syncro having a driveshaft come off the gearbox end and in flailing around it whacked the fuel tank and punched a hole in it.

35Nm on the syncro. We have the correct strength and length (coz they're longer) ones for the fronts (plus washers) if you need them...
Just give me a buzz.

 

Oh, and not you..whoever had it apart before. Seen loads of this happening to people but only because they're not done correctly. It's difficult but the threads need to be clean of grease

Years ago on our first bay the driveshaft detached with a bang as someone (me) didn’t torque up the bolts....

This syncro based episode I have no part in the *****tery!!
