  1. Some mor work done this evening.
    Starting with the fun part of scraping of the coating under the . To prep for abrasive blasting. So glad I built a roll over jig.

  2. Look what the postman/woman dropped off today.
    Early Christmas gift. Think I have to spend a couple of hours in the garage tonight . It’s much more fun welding in new metal than messing with crappy old under sealer.

  4. Starting to fit the frontpart of the front part of the inner sill[​IMG]
    And trying to match it up with the inner fender part. [​IMG][​IMG]
    Bought a shrinker stretcher kit this summer. Som first tryouts. Nice to not have to cut and weld to get curves in the in bent pieces. [​IMG]

  8. On the finish straight of the rust repair part of the restoration. Feels good to soon start a new chapter on the van.

  9. After some welding, hammering and grinding.

    On to the right side belt mount. Was just a small rust bubble. But since it’s a safety issue and two plates welded together I opted for cutting it out.

    Since I had all the tools out I took a stab at the left side to.

  11. Media blaster the seatbelt mounts and the forward heat diving duct. [​IMG]

    Put the parts in a bath of phosphoric acid to reach rust that the blasting didn’t get. An to get a anti rust coat on the bare metal. [​IMG]

  12. Started fiddling with the front left inner fender. Didn’t get to much done this weekend.

    Pretty satisfied whit the results.
    Now it’s just the outer fender left
    Got some hammer forming done on the patch. And started to adjust it to fit the cut out.

    Can’t wait to get back to the garage tomorrow evening to get it welded in place. Hopefully the hammer marks won’t be to visible when it’s grind smooth.

  16. If grinding back all the welds is a pain. Cleaning of all the under coating before blasting is a real pain...... wiping it clean whit thinner has some advance.... it takes the edge of[​IMG]

  18. Finally got some sand blasting done. Feels great to get it clean underneath.
    Can’t wait to paint it with some 2k primer. [​IMG]

  19. Finally first coat of epoxy base. Didn’t have enough for second coat. Keyed it up for some mor painting tomorrow. Fund some pin holes to address whit the welder. [​IMG]
    I’m going to paint it in OG color underneath.
    L21H MarinoGelb77. First some stone chip protection in the wheelhouse.

  20. Were the undersides painted in the body colour from the factory? My westy just appeared to be grey but with overspray on the main chassis rails.
