Stuck Headlamp?

  1. Hi all, I’m probably missing something here but I can’t for the life of me remove my headlamps.. they are the 3 screw style. I’ve removed the screw at 3 o’clock on the offside/RH lamp but she won’t budge. Is there a knack to this? I want to upgrade the bulbs to halogen h4s or similar and beef up the feed circuit but I won’t be doing much til I can get them out!
LH side is the same, apart from the screw doesn’t seem to want to come fully out. It goes loose then tight again like it’s a captive screw. Advice gratefully received!

  2. Take the trim off.. that’s only the adjuster..Thers a ring that holds the headlamp in. Underneath.

  3. The rim had a catch point on the inside of it . If you undo screws then push away from middle of the bus then they will release .

  4. I thought this was the case for single-screw variants. Is it the same for 3-screw?

  5. Thanks, will try that in the morning!

  6. The screws that won’t come right out they are just adjusters for headlamp .

  7. Which is now poorly adjusted oops!

  9. Hooray! Finally completed my headlamp upgrade. New bulbs from JK in there now, and relays wired in with new feed from the batt to an aux fuse box. Much better. Thanks for the advice in this thread and the forum generally!

But... Just putting it all back together. PO has added one of those panel clips to the securing lug, and forced what looks like an electrical screw through it. What screws should be in there? The fine thread on the electrical screw has come off completely as the panel clip is much coarser.

Its the other way round. The clip is wrong, its probably off a car stereo speaker, and it has knackered the nice metric screw. Which should go into a tapped hole which has worn out hence the clip.

  11. Cool thanks. Looks to be m4 or thereabouts. I’ll see if I can pop a rivnut in there to repair it as the hole looked far too big for the existing screw!
