Struggling to find restorer in Ireland

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by Niall, Feb 28, 2019.

  1. Hi all,

I can't believe it's so hard to find someone willing to work on my van here but I guess I can see their point. You see I got it restored by someone who ended up being full of sh*t about their capabilities and made a mess of a lot of the panels. The sliding door and track and all the door gaps. So, yeah most of the panels!

I've tried to get someone to commit to just correcting the welding and then I will take it back and continue the prep and paintwork. I'm doing a very good resto course in April so I am hoping I'll be able to get good enough to give her an acceptable lick of paint.
But nobody here wants to do it because they don't want to put their name to someone elses work unless they start from scratch. I'm almost €20k in already and I just can't justify another €12-20k into it. I'll stretch a bit more but if I can do this course and do a good job on the paint I'd be happy.

I'm not sure how many of you guys on here know about the Irish VW scene but if you have any suggestions I would love to hear them. I'd go as far as the north but shipping to the UK mainland is just adding too much cost.

    Thanks,
    Niall.
