Hi. First post on here as I got my bus today. He's a South African import, 1976 RHD, 2ltr type 4. Called him Sterk Blatjang - any saffos on here (I'm married to one) will know what that means . First problem is the ignition light is on without the key in! Still starts OK, although had to use jump leads since the battery was almost flat. Any ideas please?
Hi Mark welcome to TLB, Starter switches can be problematic so I'd start with that, so whats the name mean, or can't you say?
Lol - it means Hot Chutney! Always loved Mrs Balls' Sterk Blatjang and thought the name was James Bondish - if you say it right . Thanks for the tip. Some of the wiring needs a bit of attention and I'm going to rewire it. Did a rewire on my buggy recently so hope this will be similar. Anything I can do with the ignition switch to isolate the problem/sort it?
The ignition light gets its power from the regulator( blue wire) in the engine bay, usually on the right by the battery, that in turn is wired from the alternator so I'd start there!
Hello from Dorset, I too have a bus that has had the ravages of SA maintenance thrown at it. He's from Stellanbosch and called Desmond, obviously.
I tried out 'Sterk Blatjang' on my dog and got no response, unlike when I shout 'Voetsek' she does! Tony
