  1. Evening all.. At what point do you need to replace the pin and bushings.. Is there a obvious issue in the arm...? What does a worn pin show as..

  2. Get someone to wiggle the steering wheel while you look underneath. If there is wobble in the pin it's worn.

  3. Side to side play is what you`re looking for but difficult to detect until the steering is under load .
If i was you i`d replace the lot before you put the beam in - MUCH easier with the beam out .
I may have a brand new spare kit if you need one , PM me and i`ll have a look ...

    This.

If you have the beam off, for the sake of a few quid, it’s best to change it. Chances are it will be worn anyway, and you will be swearing if you have to do in situ in a few months time.

The pin will rock as you turn the steering with the wheels on the ground. And it may also clunk.

If you do change it with the beam off, its all easier except putting the preload on the wavy spring washer at the bottom of the pin as you get the bolt that secures the arm to the pin into the notch in the pin at the top.
For that I found the force needed to be almost enough to lift the bus pushing up on the pin with a jack.

Make sure the greasing arrangment is working, the nipple is present and not blocked and you really pump the pin bushings full of grease . Then it will last better.
