Does the steering box have to come out or can it be serviced in place ,mine has a very very small leak and theres some play as well . How long to do the job ,could do with knowing before i take it to the garage,[ forwarned is forarmed as they say]
It really has to come out, its a hour job to do your self, strip, clean and replace the seals BUT the hardest part will be getting the link arm off, you will need a good puller or a trip to the garage for that. You will have to readjust it once its back on, not something you can do beforehand
Hi Keith H. Can you send me a late steering box service kit please? if you pm me your details I will paypal you the money. I need it posting to Manchester. cheers Sir.
Hi, I really need some bearings SFK3555 927 open cage ball race Do you guys have a contact to get them?
I don't think anyone has ever found any, ive tried everywhere, not ideal but the bearings will pop out of the nylon cage very easily, then its just a case of replacing them
Not sure, they don't look very similar but hard to tell, have a look at Juneau,s pics here http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/steering-box-see-inside.24036/ Maybe for the Brazilian if not for the T2?
Thanks to Zed i can now do a seal kit for the Early box 27 x 37 x 7, 24 x 36 x 7, 25 x 36 x 7, oil seals, you will use 2 of these depending on the box year Oil SAE 90 Gear oil 285 ml O ring for filler plug Dust seal with pointer £6 extra Postage is £3.20 So incl P&P £14.00 with out dust seal £20.00 with Im doing these at cost so they are only for TLB members
i may have to do mine soon, there was no oil in it when we looked and topped up at techenders so i am envisaging a drive covered in drips over the next few weeks!
yeah, undo the black cover at the bottom of the steering wheel column in the cab and at the top (front) end of the van there's a plastic cap prise it off and it's there.
