Starting without a key

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by dookie, Feb 13, 2020.

  1. I'm an idiot who has just dropped his van keys down a drain. Is there an easy way to get the van started so I can get home. I have a spare there I just don't want the wife to find out I lost another set of keys.

    Cheers

  2. Have you got a steering lock on the column?

Hope you only get a PM on this one, otherwise any old lurker could read up on bay snatching o_O

Starting is easy if the engine lid is unlocked and not much harder if it is
The problem is the steering lock unless you want to break it.

  8. No steering lock and the engine bay is open as well. Don't mind if people pm me. Sorry I haven't replied sooner I was on the phone to the wife explain it was my fault that I lost my keys, and her knowing that it was.

  9. If the keys were still all the same () get the number off the boot lock , easiest to get to, to get new ones cut to match...
