Hi, Thought long and hard about re instating it but found out that:- 1, was never factory install but VWOA and installed at stealers by monkeys. 2, was really crap when new 3, was all seized and perished and pump missing. 4 probably had legionaries disease anyway. 5 weighed 1/2 a ton with condenser and 2 rads/fans underneath. 6 would prob keep banging head on it walking between seats. so took it to the tip
So after spending days farting around with the wiper switch......they STOPPED working again so decided it must be the motor? So went for a Brazilian.although had to modify it a bit
Moved her off the drive to fix the wife’s car, decided to go for a spin round the block! Drives beautiful!
Sliding door window frame repaired and westy window install, can’t believe I forgot to take pics of repair ....doh
Brake Time, guess I was silly to think I could just slip in new disks n pads , although calliper pistons did tap out Really easy.
First side was relatively easy and managed to back off shoes ,remove drum and replace shoes / handbrake lever etc without removing hub!
Other side was seized to Fu@k and got swore at for hours until I got serious with it.......came off easy with a slide hammer tho!
Still have this little problem left over from the Cowboys That installed the OG VW air con, can’t workout the tinware height difference tho?
The tinware should be level with the bodywork with the chassis number stamped on. Are the engine bar mounts in the right place? The ones on mine had 2 sets of holes so it looked like they could be fitted about an inch lower if you used the wrong holes. It was a 1700 with a 1600 engine and a bar botched in by the PO though.
Hi Zebedee, engine mounts etc all look ok and in the right place, it’s a 76 factory 2.0L with F.I I think it’s also first year of 2.0 production. So not sure if different, had a look at some pics on line which show a kind of scalloped tinware which comes up to meet it. Maybee it had a recon ENG at some point and/or someone fitted T25 tinware to replace the butchered tinware!? Think it Should look like this......prob like gold dust tho I suppose
