I can't see the point, they are ugly and no one really slows down for them around here. Is anyone glad to have them?
Well they do reduce accidents, its because of the selfish idiots who speed around everywhere in their penis extensions.
I can't see that they do any good at all. I agree with speed limits and comply, but people around here just wiz over them as if they weren't there!
They are annoying but they do work - there are some whole width of road near us in a 20 limit - if you go at 30+ over them you hit your front valance on them -as evidenced by the grooves in the tarmac - plus have you ever tried driving at 20 down these roads - you get some bellend on your back bumper - woman in local paper reported that she was verbally abused by such a bellend after driving at 20 and then stopped at a junction to have the abuse thrown at her -
What's the alternative? There's a lot of selfish people out there who will speed/drive irresponsibly irrespective of conditions/location and cause carnage. To stop them means we all must suffer. Once autonomous cars arrive they'll be redundant as presumably no autonomous vehicle will ever break the speed limit. Super.
Raised 'tables' like they have in France are much better than English 'Humps'. I wish we had them in the village here, at the moment we have useless pinch points, that drivers go through at 50 mph if there is no conflicting traffic. We have the usual 'busy bodies' out with their clip boards and radar guns, but only in good weather and certainly not in the morning and evening rush hours, when the majority of the speeding happens. Don't get me onto the subject of young blonde ladies in small hatch backs, driving the local lanes at sonic speeds, with a fixed glazed expression on their face's, and certainly no idea of the potential consequences. We had an experiment in a village round here. A speed indicator was shown at the entrance to the village, if you hadn't slowed down 100yds later it triggered a set of 'crossing' lights in the village equipped with two way cameras, they held you for two minutes (which is an eternity when at lights). The level of speeding went down VASTLY, to almost non-existent.
Don't worry, once article 50 is invoked it's only a matter of time before they're gone . Personally, they make me slow down. So do speed traps and cameras. Broadly speaking, from a casualty reduction viewpoint, that must be a good thing. I thought they shagged your suspension if you drove too fast over them anyway
probably a sign, but nobody looks a them either, I bet they are remember the speed bum next time they travel that road
