I will soon be driving to southern Spain and if the clutch replacement goes well today I shall be driving my nifty Fiat. The problem is that as I’m used to driving vands that only do 70 with the foot flat down, I’m prone to going too fast when in said Fiat, as foot flat down means mucho rapido. Does anyone know of any devices to alert me to cameras, just in case? I do realise that driving in 3rd should stop accidental speeding.
I have a device that sits next to me and tells me when there is a speed camera coming up, when it stops working I just get a new one
google maps warns of speed cameras. its illegal to use anything to detect them in france. So google maps speed camera detection won't work there not sure about spain
I got a ticket in Spain but it was my own stupidity as the area was clearly marked, google maps had not warned me though !
Don't worry after the 31st October you can tell them to stick their tickets where the sun doesn't shine
Waze is the app of choice for me. Works worldwide and also points out where Police are undertaking mobile speed checks. It works on big data so the more people using it the more accurate it becomes.
I use one in France. It knows it’s illegal so the warnings automatically change from “speed camera ahead” to “dangerous road segment ahead”. I’m happy with that. After all speed cameras are all about road safety right?
Tomtom Western Europe on me iPhone has speed cameras on it. In France, it also shows popular shop doorways where you can stop to urinate
I use a satnav app called Navigator. Don't know how it works in Europe but in the UK, it knows all the road speed limits and whenever you exceed one it makes a loud bleep. Therefore it's easy to keep within the limits and so you don't need to know about speed cameras. Only place it won't work is those variable speed limits on motorways but to be honest, if you can't drive within the set limit whether temporary or permanent, you shouldn't be on the road.
