We would do that from rear swap anyway tbh if I had a flat in the front. I don't like the idea of steering in a space saver
Ive got a type 4 engine with dells fitted. If I can get something small enough I was considering looking at whether its feasible to fit it to the engine bay roof! Standard wheel is too large (diameter). Its just an idea at this point!
http://www.fitmywheels.com/ if you punch in your current whee/ tyre combo and then play around with different combinations, you should be able to figure out which cars will have a suitable space saver...my money's on an E class merc with 17 inch rims... or give these guys a ring: http://www.tyremen.co.uk/
I think the only way I'm going to get something is a collapsable. Not something I'm knowledgeable on at all.
Yup for info. Don't forget me guys I'm on a mission. Somewhat curtailed as my car has broken down but nevertheless It's either tis or reinventing the wheel (carrier)
@Dicky , sorry I did'nt get time to measure the wheel on Friday, and now I'm stuck in Brentwood's Holiday Inn with work until Monday
I've got a space saver wheel from a W211 Mercedes Benz E320 CDI. Those things weigh about the same as the moon with that big lump of diesel engine over the front axle, so it will be fine weight-wize. The centre bore is already big enough as its a Merc wheel. It's about 65cm by 15cm and has a 145 wide tyre on it. I think it's either 16 or 17 inch wheel.
@Dicky Eventually measured my spare wheel, so just for reference, I think its a (mk5 Golf) R32 wheel. Its 125/70/18 and its actual diameter with tyre is approx 630mm with a width across the tyre/wheel of approx 130mm.
Hey all! Have there been any developments on this front or any good finds out there that are safe to use? Cheers.
