Raining here so can't play with the bus.
Decided to look at my spare carbs
    Ive two 34's & two 30's
So whats the difference and are parts interchangeable?
The one ive opened up 34 looks ok needs a good clean but the fuel valve spacer looks to big? Bigger than the one on the bus anyway.
The other 34 has a snapped mixture screw.
So can anybody recommend a refurb kit?[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

  2. The refurb kits in my experience are quite expensive and contain a lot of poor quality parts and gaskets etc. The main thing is to keep your original parts as they are better quality. JK and VWH and off ebay for the same refurb kits.

I have a spare refurbed by myself 34pict3 for when the one on the 1600tp engine has problems.

Cleaning and refurbing old carbs is a good do it yourself hobby and you end up with carbs that a worth quite a bit.

Original solex carbs have a value and they sell on ebay for good price as there is a demand for genuine carbs.

  3. I'd give it a thorough clean inside and out, and a good blow through with carb cleaner. Try and keep as much original stuff as possible. The £20 German refurb set from Machine 7 I found to be the best (may not still be the case). Watch the thickness of the carb lid gasket, or your float chamber will overflow.
