  1. Its now £1k cheaper as its a tough market out there!! Now £10,500....

Suddenly realised that whilst its on eBay, I haven't added it here. Suspect most people already have one, but just in case anyone wants another one here we go:

    1973 Westfalia Continental - 'Georgina'

On eBay for 11.5k, probably be willing to negotiate a forum discount.

    Pictures first:

and now some words to with it:

We have come to the reluctant conclusion that with the arrival of our third child, this van no longer has enough three point seatbelts. The whole family will be sad to see it go.

Sleeps 5, rock and roll bed, bed in pop-top and toddler bunk across the cab (brand new from NLAVW) Comes with drive-a-way awning (Royal Traveller Canvas).

The previous owner had spent significant money sorting out the structure, I've concentrated on making it mechanically sound.

    Good Bits:

Solid - Partial restoration carried out by previous owner approximately 4 years ago, multiple new panels, chassis welding and respray. Some photos of this available. Not massively pretty, but resists a vigorous investigation with a screwdriver!

Engine - three year old engine, covered less than 5,000 miles. All new parts, not reconditioned. Based around stronger aluminium crankcase. As original 1600cc Type 1 engine. Electric fuel pump. New carb. About as good as 1600 can get! Bit oily thanks to rubbish valve covers.

Pop top - brand new canvas fitted last year - no leaks or draughts. One of the heavy duty ones from NLAVW.

Brakes and Suspension - braking system rebuilt in 2016, new callipers on front, new cylinders on rear, new hard and flexible lines, new shock absorbers on front, new ball joints. It stops well (for a 1973 camper!) and the handbrake works.

Seatbelts - 4 brand new inertia seatbelts in fetching blue.

MOT and Tax - last MOT passed with flying colours, not even any advisories. Van will be MOT exempt from May . Tax Exempt.

Tyres - four new tyres with extra chunky tread for getting on and off those boggy campsites.

    Less Good Bits

Some Surface Rust - there is a little surface rust that at present is no cause for concern, but will need attention to stop it getting worse. Tops of gutters (not the bottom where they normally rust out), drivers door, and wheel arches.

A couple of scrapes - Passenger door, rear wings and siding door slide cover all have scuffs that need a little paint. Again, nothing serious. Some toe rag backed into me the other day, so bumper is now scuffed.

Sliding Door - the bottom corners of the sliding door have been repaired as part of the previous restoration, but they have cracked. Perfectly functional, but will need some attention to stop them getting worse. Bottom door skin required I suspect.

Interior Upholstery - this was the last bit to get attention after making is solid and mechanically sound! The front seats have generic covers on, some basic carpet in the cab, and serviceable upholstery in the rear. It looks okay from a distance, and works fine, but will ultimately need redoing at some point.

Come and have a look. We are a few minutes from Chester train station, and can be reasonably flexible around viewing times.

Test drives are welcome and encouraged, but after a genuinely terrifying experience when we were selling our '71 beetle (another victim of the kids) this will be in a local supermarket car park unless you can provide proof of comprehensive insurance cover.

Please get in touch if you have any questions or want any further photos of anything.

As a polite note please no part exchange offers, silly offers, long sob stories or ornate oversees shipping scams. Thanks!
