FOR SALE SOLD - 1973 RHD good honest camper for sale

  1. Ok let's see if I can get this right first time!

Price is advertised at £15k - But if you like her once you have inspected her then I'm happy to talk money with any serious buyer with a genuine offer.

Location - LE8 Just south of Leicester (20 mins from eddies farm), I shall warn you though I work full time in the week so the best time for a viewing is at the weekend mainly due to it being dark when I get home & I wouldn't recommend viewing in the dark!

Contact details are by posting on here or private message but I'm more likely to answer an email if you send it to DavePCD@aol.com or just give me a call on my mobile which is 07745 691154, best to avoid working hours but I'm usually sat drinking coffee between 1-2pm weekdays (lunch hour) & I get home around 6pm (no hands free in my daily)

Here's a run down of the details:

12 months MOT, only issues in the last 4 years of ownership was a dodgy Earth on rear light cluster, brake adjustment one year & last year an advisory on a water mark to headlight glass.

Last year I had starting issues & had a new battery but they continued, garage fitted a push start button which seemed to resolve this but it returned so I took starter out with intention of swapping for a replacement but had wrong type so cleaned all contacts & this has resolved the issue!

There was no interior when we bought her so we fitted a rusty Lee full width bed complete with inertia seatbelts, insulated & fitted ply floor & new wood effect vinyl, trimmed all internal panels with camo material & my mum made us some new curtains.

1600 twin port engine which had top end rebuilt by an aircooled man I know and sounds nice especially after fitting electronic ignition & learning how to set the timing at our first Techenders!

Lowered all round on adjusters in beam & adjustable Spring plates on rear, new lowered shocks & cosmics on each corner plus a spare which I have on the luggage rack secured with bungies.

I fitted a new canvas to the front hinged Westy pop up roof which has the lift up bed & flappy bit, roof is pretty good however the metal bars on roof rack were shot so I had them replicated in stainless steel by a mate, I also have stainless eyelets but there not fitted.

I've fitted a Jaguar XJ summat rear seat in the front which doubles as a bed for my 5 yr old, the old seats were dead & I wanted something different! Tried the Saab route (they were free) but much too high for me, the jag seat although not adjustable is perfect!

The previous owner had an 8k bill from a restorers for the bodywork & respray (I have the pics) which was 2009 but it sat in their workshop after completion due to the old guys ill health until we bought her, I think she's seen one winter outside which was last year since the work was done, our camping season starts & finishes with the two Techenders meets!

I've built a bench seat which houses a pull out cooker drawer (when slider is open) & storage which also houses the 240v hook up fully earthed breaker box thingy which serves a double socket. There's a leisure battery (110amp low height) in the engine bay serving its own fuse box then onto a remote control dimming led strip & one of those 12v socket things with USB for charging your phones etc.

She's not perfect but she's honest & solid, any inspection welcome. The underside is painted with black Hammerstein or similar (done with resto work) which has chipped & does require a touch up & then I suggest getting it protected but thought it better leaving as is so buyer can see exactly what they are buying!

I think that's the basis of an advert except for pics so here goes...

  7. Hi Robo love the van I never thought you would sell yr van , I'm lurking from time to time on here and noticed most of us that had been on here are moving on , when I sold my van I was looking for an older bus my cercamstatics change a new family so dare I say brought a t5 , one day I will find. New van if you can remember I tried to get yours of you lol, if I was you keep to the new year nd then move on , are u looking for a new project ?? Thanks BrettBrett

  8. Hi Brett, hows things with you?

Congrats on the new family, did you sell the old one or did you you trade them in for the T5? Seriously though I appreciate things can change very quickly & usually when your least expecting it!

We have had a great 4 years with the camper & I would love to keep her but I need a bigger vehicle than my little astra as my daily & family vehicle which I can't afford basically so a T5 would be perfect and would do all of that and take us away camping! Its a no brainer really & yeah I know there are loads of people who use their vans as dailys etc. etc. but for me I just wouldn't enjoy doing the daily hack & all the other regular family stuff in the old girl...

I had always intended to sell in the spring but Mrs Robo pointed out that with a fresh 12 months MOT someone might have snapped it up this side of xmas which I'm not ruling out but is looking unlikely as I know myself cash is always tighter leading up to the festive season.

As for projects once we've got the T5 & that's camping ready I shall shop around for a bug to tinker & mess around with...

Cheers & take it easy buddy, keep in touch.

    Robo.

  10. Weekend bumpy bump!

  11. Hi Robo all the family are great thanks hope you all are ok ? I sold my van on here as my family was growing and the last year of owning the van I think I done less than 300 hundered miles in it so the cost of keeping her upto date and using the van I don't make sense as I needed a bigger car so the t5 was my option, I sold my bus for 10 grand in the end which wasn't to bad , I had the bus for 13 years which I travelled through France Spain and all round the southwest , plus all my vw shows I went to in the uk , the van with the purchase and resto work owed me 13 grand so a lost of 3 grand over that time isn't bad , yr van will sale but don't be in a rush to let go , the right buyer is out there she or he will turn up , as for my t5 it's a panel van van a 5 seater I've carpeted it out done storage in the back under seats and put some alloys on her , next is lowering and side steps I'm not pouring lots of cash on this as it's only a 2008 van with a mileage of 15000 on the clock I will post a pic of it soon , cheers mate

  15. Just re listed my eBay classified but still not sure if it's a bit early yet!

For confirmation the MOT is valid until the 20th October 2016!

  16. Am I ok to keep bumping this or should I create a new 'Buy My Camper' advert with a 3 line description with 2 pics? Is it a case of too much info do you think?

  17. It doesnt want to leave you robo , its a great bus and good genuine seller , hopefully mr or mrs right will swing by soon for you . Spring will help ,good luck bud .
