I really am a soft southerner, I looked at tonights weather and cancelled fishing,

 

Don’t blame you. You’ll easily part company with your bivvie in this!

Over the passenger wheel arch, I've cut all the rust out so I need to weld a strip in I'll go fishing first to get inspiration

 

If it's any consolation, my (new in 2008) passenger front step has rotted away. I just cut the sharp bits off and ignore it.

 

If you've got some magic ointment that makes it heal, I'll have any spare please. I suspect mine isn't too far behind that but I've carefully avoided poking anything for years. Lessons were learnt when I poked the chassis and ended up buying a welder!

 

Bought a welder? Didn’t it come free when you bought the van? You were ripped off!

 

If I’d got a free welder with my bus I would’ve put him to work on all the other jobs after the welding was done.

Shall I used baked bean tins or newspaper and filler

 

Cardboard, chicken wire and filler should do nicely

I might leave it as it is I won't get wet cos it's on the passenger side

Finding rust is better than finding filler on top of rolled up pages from the Daily Mail....

 

Tape a piece of cardboard over it for now.

 

Cut a bit more out on both sides then you can airbag it and slam the front end and make it a proper weed eater Baz.
Goes with the rat-look.
