What's the point of a car if you can't drive it :easter:

You may as well just get a taxi.

On second thoughts Bazza drives a taxi

Yeah , yeah, yeah, yeah. The ratio is still rather compelling though isn’t it. If we all tried to do two hundred plus miles every single day, thousands if not millions of us world wide, just imagine all of us trying to do all these miles in a T model Ford. It wouldn’t happen, but things change and come a long long way in a short space of time. I remember when you Barn and your neighbor had to put your feet through the bottom of the car to make it go, then your neighbor Fred got some most excellent trainers to

A bit of getting fettling should indeed sort them out... disconnect the battery and burn them with fire...

  10. It's a tricky issue. Self driving cars will never be perfect- I mean, several companies are currently trying to launch them, but there's no universal agreement on protocol between vehicles.
Renault A driving down a blocked street towards Toyota B, only available passing room is occupied by a gaggle of nuns and both vehicles are doing 70MPH, what do the vehicles do?
There's also no legal requirement to keep sensors clean at the moment, which seems like a reasonable thing to do.
But, manned cars are killing people left right and center at the moment, so do you release them now and accept a certain number of fatalities by computer, or do you put it off and accept a certain number of fatalities by people?

  11. Driverless cars are just a matter of time. How many senile old duffers, distracted mobile phone users, drunk skunks have caused accidents and killed people.......

Track days in the future will be when you want to drive a car with a steering wheel under human control.

Wasn't it a cyclist that was involved....saw a mangled bike on the morning news....with the best will in the world, I defy anything to anticipate the antics of the average comuter cyclist! ( you lot on here who like to ride a bike are obviously excempt from the above comment! )

I like the idea of driverless cars. If they sort these thing ( which they will ) the stress of motoring will disappear overnight. The age for driving will come down and the upper age limit should be older. The insurance costs should be nominal and the RTA fatality rates should fall. If it works as it should it will be a good thing

Isn't that a worry already with things like the rail system, the docks, channel tunnel and underground, it's all computer controlled!

  17. Yeh but they arnt cars / lorry’s etc and how complicated is it now let alone when computer decides to say no! Or hacker says cause havoc . Technology imo is far to advanced for our infrastructure !

It's a bit like the old oil industry take on alternative fuels, diss it through rumour or buy it out to protect their own interests ( selling oil ) The motor industry want people to be scared of change, yet when they ( the mainstream car makers ) get on board ( make electric self driving car themselves) it will suddenly be the best thing since sliced bread. Embrace it and cut out the the dangerous aspect of driving- The driver!

  20. I don't understand them...

In france if we see a car coming towards us and we know them ,we are allowed to stop and talk ...Of course till the traffic starts building up...

would a driveless car make us less social?
