Smoke alarms in the bus?

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by Withnail, May 20, 2019.

  1. Who has one and where do you have it fitted?

I have a CO2 alarm but never thought about a smoke alarm before.

The gas fridge and occasionally the propex are on all night, so thinking it wouldn't be a bad idea to have one. There is quite a lot of flammable stuff in there.

  2. Are you sure it is a CO2 alarm rather than a CO (carbon monoxide) alarm?

I wondered that but didn’t want to appear pedantic:)
Tho, they are sometimes advertised under CO2 alarms.

I’ve not got a smoke alarm but considering it for when I leave the fridge running on gas in the awning, especially when it’s attached to the van!

I’ve got a CO alarm in my van too. It did not take long for it to go off when I was running the van with the sliding door open

Just leave a window open a bit. Who has smoke alarms when these vans first came out? Your joint might set it off...;)

    snotty and nobayinhell like this.
  5. I'd have thought you might want a gas alarm as well.

  6. Yep sorry. Monday morning brain. It's a CO alarm.

  7. Yeah probably should really. I guess mounted low down somewhere as tge gas in theory should drop (and escape via the drop out vents)

  8. I'm guessing it will be really annoying for cooking. The kids are generally there now so the days of hotboxing the van are over. At least for a while.

Never thought about it before, but the combination of sleeping kids and gas fridge leaves me a bit uncomfortable.

Thought about mounting one somewhere with magnets so i can just whip it out when cooking.
