so, i have a large awning but this week i've decided i'd like a small one for single nights that is compact and easy to put up and dry out if it gets wet (the big one takes ages and i did my back in lifting it over the washing line last time) - when i had a caravan i had a porch awning which was just big enough for 2 chairs and a little bit of clutter but obviously our vans are lower than caravans and the doors being wider may hamper this...... anyone got any ideas of small awnings or maybe a canopy? so that water can't drip between van and door? we used a gazebo this week but obviously there is a gap as it doesn't attatch to the van. Ta.
i use one of these mate http://campershop.co.uk/sun-canopies/23-campershop-sun-shady-sun-canopy.html they're perfect for me.. I'm personally not into drive away awnings for aesthetic reasons.. these things are fairly shower proof, attach with a figure of 8 and are really compact also perfect for really sunny weather (probably more relevant on the continent ;-)
yep, i thought about making summat like that from a shower curtain and some washing line poles....... to be fair i'd like summat that could be zipped up like a small porch but i do feel the door is going to limit me, maybe i could get a barn door splitty........
this is the jobbie http://campershop.co.uk/drive-away-campervan-awnings/17-reimo-tour-easy-drive-away-awning.html
http://campershop.co.uk/campershop-awnings/50-campershop-cube-awning.html this one's a bit cheaper and is good enough, so if anyone knows summat like this for a bit less dollar point it my way.....
I've been looking at these 2 for just the same reason... http://www.khyam.co.uk/detail.asp?p=756&product=Driveaway Compact 200 http://www.khyam.co.uk/detail.asp?p=744 Depends what extras you have...The first one is great for an overnight 'get the cr@p out of the van' stop and the other for 'I've just drunk an entire bottle of voddy, I'll sleep in the tent love...' weekend away
nice one m/f they're getting cheaper...... the kyham 200 is plenty good enough for my needs, as i say i've got a big awning for longer trips or static stops where we don't intend to tour but moving everyday like i've just done a small one is perfect to just store bits in.
I must say I am very tempted by the 200 to try it out at Camperjam rather than my 3mx3m 'extension' as it's been called before...
Havent camped with our smaller one yet rick, looked at loads in the flesh before plumpin for this one , it is versitile, trub with going much smaller is having enuff room to move and door wont open if connected up we found. This one can have bedroom added inside or added as anex ie zipped to side, plus if you want all sides zip out for gazebo look. And whole front is clear window so you can see out if its peeing down.Bit of an art in erecting but think we have it sussed now. Spect youve seen before but this is it . I found the 2000 ones just bit to small if you want more than 2 to sit out and bit dark as no big windows if chilly or raining??
i don't need one to sleep in, we have a outwell country road with inner tent bedroom which is great for a few days in the same place, i'm after one to basically dump stuff in overnight so the van is tidy, i've shown mrsroo and she has decided that the cube one i linked too - second link is 'nice' this means get that one, when i pointed out the khyam 200 was £20 cheaper she said yes but it's only £20 (of my money) to be fair the cube one looks better so i'll hunt about more tonight, as i'm on my phone now and it's easier on the computer, i'm hoping to get a used one pff ebay or a forum etc.
