Sliding Door Sill

Discussion in 'Restorations' started by Rusting Nicely, Aug 13, 2018.

  1. Can anyone help me, I have completed working in the drivers side and am just starting on the passenger side sliding door sill/track and want to be sure on how to align the sill panels. I am working on my 1975 late bay “Stan”.

I could do with looking at a few resto images to get the alignment and method?

There’s a few pics on my resto thread. Which bit are you having problems lining up?

  3. Its how it’s been done before, I was intending to replace all three parts but was wavering on repairing the ends and keeping the middle sill to the lower seam of the track.

I’d replace both the inner and outers whole. Keep as much of the middle sill as you can as the repairs don’t include the top track section. I had to chop ours out to repair it and it was a horrid job!

  5. Hi fellow fettler, totally agree with James, its a difficult place and best to salvage top part of middle sill if possible. Another problem is that the curve the horizontal roller follows is not that good even on good quality middle sill replacement panels. I found it was best to remove the track from below the door threshold and modify the new mid sill to suit. Have a look at the first page of my restro: http://thelatebay.com/index.php?threads/lottie-a-79-full-restoration-part-1-2-3-4-5.53655/
