Sliding Door Handle

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by just-paul, Mar 10, 2019.

  1. While doing a few jobs on my van today i went to open the side door
and the outer handle came out of the door.
The bush part that the square of the handle goes through has come
out of the mechanism. I removed the screw from the end and the bush
    slid off the handle.

I can push the bush back in but what should keep it in the mechanism ?
    Cheers

  2. Mine did this,
    It's kippered!
Drill the rivets & take the mechanism apart & theres a spring that should go around a lip in the bush. Just cant see how to fix it.
    Had to buy a replacement.

  5. Hi Paul, have a look at the last page of my Lottie Resto thread, there is a photo of the inside of the mechanism. I think this collar is held to a lever by 4 swaged edges.
