There's play in the centre hinge where the "u" bar goes into the mechanism. I have found a bush kit on jk website but it says it fits hinge up to a 75. Any one know if they will fit a 77 bay hinge ? If not how could i repair mine ? Cheers
Only early hinges have bushes, later ones don’t , I may have a NOS one if you don’t find another solution
Does that mean the hinge is a throwaway with wear? having closing issues at back of sliding door, it clunks the opening with the pin.
Reviving this a year on. I have a dropped sliding door and I think its the mechanism. What needs to be replaced please?
The later U bolt is available quite cheaply from JK. It does not fit mechanisms with brass bushes (although armed with a set of new bushes, some files and 4 hours of determined desperate effort it does fit..) I would agree though that the first thing to do is check it is not just bolts that have slipped in their holes with time. And new rear hinge mechanisms have appeared at prices comparable with original replacements. ??Machine7 ...Peanuts for British classic car owners but a bit high for many Bay Window owners. The rear hinge can wear, the roller that runs on the track at the rear can wear. The bolts holding the hinge to the door can be adjusted. The front roller wears, its bracket can be adjusted and shimmed. The latch plates at the rear and front can be moved around. The top roller can be adjusted.
