Heres mine almost finished and first night camping out last night in the new forset 1972 Westfalia continental built in 72 registered in 74 hence M plate and when i got it
Here is my Helsinki on its way to Sweden last year late November! pic taken at Harwich ferry terminal. I love this fold out stove!
That interior is just sooooooo right, even down to the grey push buttons in the black handles on the kitchen units Oh, and the uber cool cab table/sink lid
Haha where do you start no Captains Seat and no room for the thetford loo! To be fair @Clive Neilands I do like the foldout hob
LOL! opinions opinions! I specifically went for a Helsinki, the full width bed is a plus for me because I am big,ask @theBusmonkey. Ok no captains chair is a slight bummer but on the side near the window opposite the sliding door is the extra seat to make up for not having a captains chair. the only thing is the fridge/sink blocking the entrance. I had the choice but wanted a Helsinki.
Depends on the berlin!! ;-) Westy did very well to cater for the differing opinions of those choosing their interiors, and for us to still not be able to decide, well agree on the better option nearly 40 years later, must be a positive!! i went for a Berlin, (as IMHO) it was the way better option for camping and travelling, floor space, lots of storage, making use of the cab area when parked up, access for the cab bunk, but still having a cooker, fridge and sink all in a relatively modern vehicle, with a double bed up top. so late berlin won over prototype bay or split!!
I'm with Fancy-bug as I too thought the layout of the berlin was better, but now I have it I wonder if I needed it. Apart from the sink, we sit outside, cook outside and pee outside, so sometimes I wonder if the van should just have two double beds and a sink, plus a load of storage space for all the bits you take out and put next to the van when you get where you are going !
Modified Berlin/Campmobile (but then it's not a Westy is it) We loved our Continental. The bed was ace and the interior was more solidly built. The hob was better in the Conty but blocking the walkthrough when down mean't one of us had to sit in the front to allow more room for the chef to perform. The water tank was easier to fill so we used it. It had a manual tap, it worked. Wolf I loved that ladder. I got it years ago for next to nothing from ebay.de & we hung the shower off it... The Deluxe has better storage. You have more room with the swivel seat. We don't use the water tank so have taken it out. It has a fridge which is ace now sorted. @Clive Neilands will no doubt come back at us with his standard gas fridge and OG gas heating system
Ditto, bought a Berlin, now considering if we would be better off with full bed downstairs too. @PeaSoup has done this too. Its easily reversible if you wanted to go back to OG layout.
Well it is all original and in very good condition, that Truma Gas heater is amazing! The fridge is a 3 way unit but the gas part is not working, its on the list though. the interior has no scratches or marks at !! like new! Except for the fridge door which has an inch long quite deep scratch.I have removed the stickers because I was afraid of permanent fading.
Why the blooming eck can't I post from my laptop. ...grrrrr been trying to upload photos but when I try to type in the box nowt happens
