  4. Errr it's, usually, no ornament, plenty of trips away. Hence all the oil under the engine

Not quite as spotless and shiny as I'd like, but let's call it a work in progress..... ;)

Think you posted a pic of your strange oil filler cap filter before? You should bin it and get a proper one of your engine bay will acquire a film of oil over...everything. And if you have heat exchangers your cab heat will also contain a mist of oil for you and yours to breath.

  11. Yes your right on all accounts Zed and the weird filter thing will be replaced during the commissioning stage.
Project is slowly making a journey through paint at the moment which should be complete in the next couple of weeks.

After discovering that the refurbishment of the interior had resulted in the petrol tank being punctured I decided it was time to do the engine bay so it matched the external 6yr old paint job.

The engine bay looked quite sorry for itself and the hardboard sound proofing panels were knackered.

The inside of the petrol tank cavity was painted by hand and the cover refitted with new hoses installed at the same time.

I also decided the battery trays needed to be sorted but did not want to cause too much issues with the external paint work.

turns out one was 'stuck on'

New battery trays were a pain in the backside to fit but I eventually managed it

Now I am no painter (or trained welder) but I am happy with the results

However the sound deadening panels were beyond saving

So I had some aluminium ones made as a copy of the originals

    Painted them and fitted them

My friend (who is looking into making the GRP overriders) then made these as he was bored

after which I sulked and fitted my engine as we were going away and I didnt have the time to paint the tinware.
