On my 04 plate Peugeot 307, the seal on the EGR valve went . Bought one second hand off eBay and fitted it, after getting my thumb trapped down the back for 5 minutes, and many scratches on my hand .. had to make wierd 10mm ring spanners, cutting and welding them to get the spanner onto the EGR bolts ..horrible .. got annoyed with air intake tract that was in the way so hacksawed it off and then rejoined it with cable ties securing rubber pond liner and silicone .. also had to clear water from the EGR vacuum actuator system - had driven through a deep puddle and the valve is fitted on the front of the engine just behind the radiator. Hated it but the light has stayed off and you can hear it change the engine note after about 10 seconds at idle after driivng.

  4. I’ve got to change the egr on my mk7 transit but it’s a pain in the backside to do as it’s water cooled and blanking it off requires an eco remap. I’ve tried all the normal revving and even run egr cleaner through the system but it always clogs again. In the end to get it through the last mot I just bought an odb resettler off of eBay for £17 and switched the engine management lights off for the test. Win win. But it’s actually starting to effect the driving in cold conditions so I know I’m gonna have to replace it. Who stupid idea was modern engines?

I actually wonder if a type 4 2lt bay panel van would be a better idea for work sometimes.

One plus for having a Mk6, no need to remap I can see where the need to return the exhaust gas comes from, but as they clog up you use more fuel as the engine struggles, so doesn't properly work imo.

  8. Engine was built up a few weeks back. Just needs plug wires making but they're 0.3mm diameter so a little fiddly.

Yeah I was looking at the front wing shape and thinking early bmw. Those rear lights must be a give away?

It was the rear that I wasn't sure about, I couldn't remember BMW making a hatchback.
