Selling overseas after transition period (Brexit)

Discussion in 'General Discussion' started by IZZYBAY, Feb 22, 2020.

  1. Have just sold my camper to a local person but I had a very keen buyer from Sweden who I have just informed him of the sale and wished him luck in his search. He told me he has checked with Swedish imports and they have told him that after the transition period of us leaving EU there will be a 10% import charge of total purchase price AND 25% VAT. So he says he needs to buy before then. Just thought I would pass this info on.

Not sure on this as they haven't finished the negotiations yet so who knows.

    Rubbish.

  4. Why do you think it is?

  5. I suspect it is for the reason that Matty has said, that negotiations on the UKs future trade relations with the EU have only just started ... the transition period ends at the end of the year so who knows what the situation will be. Perhaps the guy has tonights lottery numbers can you ask him for me.

  6. And it already costs a fortune to import foreign vehicles into Scandinavia (at least it does in Denmark). Hence why they drive Volvos or old bangers.

Give us 10 years of out of the EU and we may well be pleading to be let back in to avoid all the spiteful rules they made specially for Boris' ship of fools.

Let' see.. with a bit of imagination Any truck into the EU from the UK pays say €1000 transit tax .. and needs triplicate Customs paperwork. The HGV Douane carnet handling office will be open 10-4 weekdays in Calais rown centre. There will be a 5 tonne weight limit in the town...
