If he/she (equality folks!) does have a leg to stand on, offer them 30% of the sell price for the trainer they don't need.

  2. I finally spoke to a real person at Paypal today, and this is how the scam works. Simple but clever. You advertise something, a buyer then says they want it can you post asap if they pay now. They pay through Paypal to your account and the payment goes through when you check your account and you duly transfer out the money so you now it is legit. Then the buyer sends you the delivery address, which you duly post the item too. Heres the scam, the address is fine and the parcel gets delivered/signed for etc., a day later you get a message from Paypal from the 'buyer' saying it hasn't turned up. You then check your account properly and notice the 'buyers' paypal address is not the same as the delivery one. Paypal won't give you sellers protection because it didn't go to the address on their account. No doubt the 'buyer' claims to have no knowledge of any transaction and wants their money back. No doubt the initial buyer and the paypal account holder are the same person, but you have to prove it, and with fake profiles etc that is gonna be difficult. To be able to trace who accepted the parcel will probably be fruitless too, as anyone can sign for them!!! Not just the addressee. Looks like I could be well and truly stuffed. The 'buyer' has now deleted their profile and will probably set up a different one under a false name. Until these companies like gumtree, ebay etc. wake up and do checks on everyone who signs up it is never going to stop. Be careful out there... I'm sending all my evidence to Paypal but don't hold out a lot of hope:(

  3. If you've removed funds from paypal then let paypal sort it out not your problem really it's up to them. They need to be more vigilent to scams like this, they're aware of it but choose to take minimal action as there revenue increases! If paypal put a hold on your acct set up a new one i very much doubt you'll hear any more from them.

  4. Guess what? I lost the case. Paypal looked into it all and the conclusion is that even though I sent the parcel through Royal mail special delivery, I cannot prove that that was the ACTUAL parcel that was sent. What are you supposed to do? Take a photo of the goods inside as you hand it over to the postperson. Absolute joke.(bad one)

    Go here....... https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/

Get a crime reference number and then recontact PayPal/eBay quoting the reference number....it may prompt them to reconsider.

If not what have you lost!

Last year a friend had his eBay/PayPal accounts hacked and his account showed he had purchased a £150 golf club from China and the first he knew was when a small packet of plastic beads worth 10p arrived at his home.

He contacted eBay/PayPal and they said he had to return the beads to the sender and contact them first using their resolution procedures to resolve the alleged dispute.

The cost to return the beads was astronomical and the so called seller never responded.

I told my friend to do what I have mentioned above as it shows you are reporting an actual criminal offence and when eBay/PayPal were recontacted they reimbursed my friend without issue.
