I thought it was about time that I started my own restoration thread so I've got an excuse for posting some pictures. As you can see from the title his name is Rusty, because he is and because of his colour (and my young un named him that). Here he is when I found him in the barn he'd been sitting in for about 5 years (on a driveway for the previous 2 or 3) Here he is on the drive after I'd got home home and the interior that was inside And some pictures of him in his new home where he's been for quite a while now up on axle stands.
As you can see, there was a fair bit of filler hiding a multitude of sins and when I touched it, it came out in my hands. Bugger, didn't really want that to happen! Bottom of the D posts rotten and both of the rear chassis rails were "past their best", so out they came.
Here's an action shot of my "apprentice" in action. Got to say a BIG THANK YOU to @womball for being the "apprentice"! Without his help and guidance, I think I'd still be sat in the corner crying and thinking OMG, what have I done!!!!
Cut the left hand underfloor plate out today and the floor looks in great condition (phew!) The front jacking point looks a bit worse for wear as does a bit of the top hat section.
That's how it was when I got the inside of it out! Need to find a body cut for that piece at a sensible price.
guessing was done to fit a Marmitety bed lol its mad what people did back in the day sure youll find a cut for it
