Rusty Lee R&R bed cushions.

  1. Since fitting my full width Rusty Lee last year, I have been making do with the old Devon bed cushions.
However, I have now decided it is time to splash out on some new foam.
So a couple of questions for Rusty Lee owners:-
Are the cushions exactly the same size as the ply bed boards or is one of them deeper so that the back cushion sits on the seat cushion or the seat cushion butts up to the bottom of the back cushion?
What is the depth (rear hatch forwards) of the rearmost cushion?
Do you "fix" the cushions to the ply and if so how?
Are your cushions curved at corners to match ply or left square?

    Many thanks

  2. We have recently had foams cut for our 3/4 Rusty...... we wereadvised to make them 1.5cm over depth so that the board didnt dig into the back of your legs. Has worked a treat.

    We curved our corners.

  3. That sounds like good advice, thanks.

  4. I haven't fixed mine to the ply, they just sit there, but they don't move at all, and my corners are rounded to match the boards

I don't have any overlap, but the cushion foam is so thick that there no problem with the board digging in.

Next I'm getting a strap added to the back frame or board that can be tucked away when sleeping but then used to pull the bed back up, as it can be a little bit of a pain, and the covering the ply with some material.

My rear most cushion was measured when the bed was flat, then shaped around the petrol filler, and the slight slope towards the rear, not sure if the rear changed through the years along with the vents, so best measure your space.

My brother-in-law owns a classic car upholstery company so I just get him to do it. If one of my other sisters married a Panel Beater/Welder I'd be set!

  5. Thanks for the info. a strap might be a useful addition and also covering the ply will be nice. Your brother in law is not in the south east by chance as I need to find a supplier;)
