Different types of players, both great stand offs. Farrell more the natural flair player I guess, but what would we have given for a Wilkinson and Johnson this campaign? A bit of level headed ness to steady the ship when the pendulum is swinging in the other teams favour, as it always does in these matches. Doesn’t matter, the current crop have played some really exciting rugby, they don’t score that many tries by being crap. I like Eddie too, but it might be good if he stopped saying stuff before matches that comes back and bites him on the bum
Modern captains have to have the temperament to talk to refs in an appropriate manner, at the right time saying the right things. Farrell wears his heart on his sleeve. A challenge for England is I don't think they have any other experienced club captains in that team....Id debate how many actual leaders they have. That's not the same as saying they don't have a lot of fantastic players, but I think a downside of Eddie Jones style is he tends to Alpha everyone else. Heartley coming back might fix this, problem is he isn't your best hooker.
