  7. G'day all. I spent 1/2 hour this morning making a ply template to spread the front beam tubes by 8cm's to fit the rodeo spindles between the ball joint's. hopefully get them cut out next week. painted them green so they stand out.

  9. G'day all. To use standard bay axles I have to space the rear hub carriers out by 12mm per side. I'm also thinking about flipping them so the lower shock mount is at the top this will eliminate the possibility of get hung up on rocks logs etc. Going to work on it Tuesday Wednesday so hope to have diff fitted so pics to come. I scored a good running rover motor for free it's in a 84 range rover comes complete with near new exhaust system speed0 taco and other bits & pieces. The motor in the pic is a 86 model & out here the motor has to be fitted with all the pollution gear for the year model catalytic convert & so on. I will convert to injection after passing engineering.

  10. Gday all. spent some time on ECLECTIC yesterday positioned rear diff set transmissions into place to sort out room needed need to move motor forward 100mm to fit in shaft between gearbox & transfer case length of front tailshaft is good needs to be shortened on the front section & a rear flange added to bolt up to diff flange. lifted engine to finale height to clear front shaft. Will need to run 2 tubes alongside the front tailshaft similar to syncro as protection for it. Once it's lifted the ground clearance will be a bit more than the syncro. Also found the rear diff sit's under original kombi gearbox mount so won't have to use the ugly tube xmember to hold up the rear of diff. Pics of update. what would I do with out straps & sting. to hold stuff in place to be able to visualise & measure. This week will be shifter week sorting out the morse cables to connect the Toyota shifter to the box & of to chanderlers to look for a small hand control to shift the transfer case it's a simple straight line forward 2hi 4 hi cen tre neutral back low 4 could make 1 but want it to look right. Hope your all enjoying the build to date. let me know if you have suggestions many brains make conversion work easy. No offence taken

  11. Wow, what a project! Really looking forwards to seeing thi sone complete. Keep the updates coming.

  12. G'day all. been out collecting again. this time a complete Mitsubishi van shifter with morse cable's instead of linkages also same vehicle complete steering column with the swivel box & shaft to connect to a reversed deawoo power steer rack & pinion a hi ace hand brake lever to mount next shifter on centre stand between front seats using a single cable down to the rear torsion bar tube then splitting to both wheels. because of our registration process I have scored a freebie 84 model range rover motor to use instead of the 87 model as I would have to bring the motor side of conversion up to use a cat convertor etc so easier to go carbies for now. I have order the DELLOW bellhousing to fit the Toyota box behind the rover hope to get it about 2 weeks then the process will be on it's way to completion. I will be starting the motor cradle chassis support reinforcing & strengthening around the cut out floor section. I will be using some of the floor I cut out to fill the gaps to try to keep the floor looking right even though it will be covered with sound proofing & factory rubber mat. pics next week of progress

  14. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] G'day all. Some catch up pics I did a couple of hours on ECLECTIC today get another couple in tomorrow . fitted the floor strengthening frame & sorted height of transfer case it has to line up with the diff flange the everything else follows that line had to move motor forward to get it all in but I expected that. the drawing is to give an idea how far it intrudes into load bay Plenty of room for a rear seat & depending on noise & heat may be able to use the fold down rear dicky seats out of pajero as well.

  16. [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] this is how I'm converting to complete pajero rear disc assemblies. I had the pajero axle housing flange machined off to fit onto the bay hub carrier. I will drill & tap a thread into the carrier where the chalk marks are. I may be able to bolt the bracket directly to the housing. I will set it up on Monday.
