  1. G'day all. update of the diff the Nissan locater on the tailshaft is identical to the commodore pinion flange so that is as drill 4 holes job to bolt on a Nissan drive don't worry about the bent axles they are hose just to give me an idea of clearance issues none so far. the front of the diff to beam mount will be standard commodore on a 90deg plate welded & gusseted between the beams. Before anyone mentions it there is no worries with the tierod end nuts plenty of room just need to tighten up but this only setting up front end Note the clearance on the relocated center steering arm very happy with that a lot less work than the factory 1 with the double arm arrangement more after Tuesday

  6. G'day all. Spindles didn't give enough adjustment so the engineer is going to relocate the bottom hole plenty of room to do that. just been having a quick look & I will have to spread the beam not a hard job just some work for mates plasma cutter & grinder then 13mm plate watercut it will include a 50mm lift instead of welding in mount points for lift. all for now off for a week to Yamba for a break. Google it nice spot

  7. enjoy your break dude

  8. G'day all. spent some time before leaving on beam & a possible solution is that the bottom arms are longer than the top. So if I can fit the tops onto the bottom it may give the room to adjust then just have to sort out shock mount so something to look at when I'm back in the shed.

  9. G'day all picked up the Datsun 1600 halfshafts to be used 1 will be used as is for the rear tailshaft the other will have the end machined of & inserted into new front tailshaft because of the spline design they don't lock up on acceleration or decelerating unlike the horrible triumph axles did I used these in my 327 chev powered triumph 2500 it was a totally different car once we fitted them. Picked up the last bit for shaft between gearbox & transfer case these are all that it compromises of Toyota gearbox yoke kombi axle machined to fit into Nissan 720 uni flange kombi cv joint plus boot & axle flange of kombi gearbox

  10. G'day all. pic of the assembled intermediate shaft just has to be welded. some freebie seats for the back & started to set up rear diff just hanging it to get an idea of location. I should have it sitting insitu this arvo and drawings for mounts sorted. I hope to be able to use the bay front mount depending on the load & length of the support

  11. G'day again. just a little bit later basic location of diff

  14. wow some project hey, good luck, will be a monster!

  15. G'day all worked on the rear crossmember for the rear diff today just have to sort out mounting method to the chassis rails but it is pretty simple setup I'm using the original commodore munt turned upside down bolted to a 75mm x5mmx 3mm tube cut out underneath to slip over the crossmember to keep the height up

  16. g'day all. Thanks nielsjackie. I have been sorting out the rear diff crossmeber using the original commodore mount turned upside down

  17. Gday all. I picked up the LSD differential for the rear end. I'm using 3.08 ratio as the transfer case is 2 to 1 in low 4x4 so on road it should cruise nicely and be reasonable in soft roading. I'm getting the Datsun half shaft shortened to give a bit of room between transfer case & diff. The front diff stays in the right position it doesn't need to be flipped. the adapters are ready for me to bolt up to diff this will let me use kombi cv joints & axles with out cutting & joining 2 types of axles pics on Tuesday. all for now

  18. G'day all. worked on rear diff front mount today. I'm using the hi ace gearbox mounts they hang the box under them. the marks on the black brackets to be cut out then cut down to length then they will slide over the tube as it's fed between chassis & floor under tank.
