A book that seemed to be a prerequisite in every share house in the Seventies along with Carlos Castaneda and Lopsang Rampa. Vale Robert Pirsig.
He's probably riding his motorcycle on the highway to rebirth as we speak. I hope he doesn't break down. RIP Robert
Just recently re-read Zen & the art of motorcycle maintenance...great book. First time read also of Lila...a great read too. RIP Robert Pirsig and thanks.
No... I thought it was nonsensical tosh. (and I read it between On the Road & Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas).
Great book, probably the only book I've read more than once, I even referenced it in my final year project on motivational pyscology.
Just read a review of Zen & The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance - anyone else recommend it? I am an unbalanced loon at times, would it help me?!
Read Zen & The Art Of Motorcycle Maintenance a few years ago -the moral is to clean your chain at the end of every day's riding - or did I miss the point - sorry to hear of Pirsig's passing - RIP
Read it. It either means something to you, or doesn't. It does mention carburettor jets in several places to keep your interest up Believe Pirsig did suffer from mental illness at one point, which explains the weird bits...
Sometimes books are to be taken for what they are and why they are written...read and enjoy a bit of escapism. We don't have to assume all books are trying to be clever. Personally I thought it was a nice story of a father and sons bike trip with v.interesting thoughts about quality along the way.
