    Zed Gradually getting grumpier

Getting the battery fully charged will probably do it, there's little to go wrong and you or Bob would have spotted anything silly. :)

  2. its always turned over slower when cold

  3. Hi guys. Did you ever get it started? I am also struggling after re-installing my engine. I have power to the coil with the ignition on, but when I take the lead off the distributor to check for a spark to the crankcase I'm not getting a spark.
    Appreciate some explanation . Cheers

  4. Coil...Points... condenser.. rotor arm.. cap.. could be any..

  5. surely if I'm not getting a spark coming off the HT lead then my issues are not with the distributor components? I have just fitted a brand new bosch coil and this still hasn't got me any further.

If the distributor isn’t rotating or the points/electronic module isn’t working you won’t get a spark. ;)

  8. Yes i did remove the distributor. I guess the best way to check if the distributor is rotating is to take the cap off and ask my wife to turn over the ignition?

  9. If points don't open you don't get a spark, you could see if you get anything off the -ive side of the coil when the points open..you said you had 12v on one side but the current needs to come out the other end of the coil to make the spark.. that's if you find it does rotate to open them in the first place

  10. OK so tonight I can confirm that my rotor arm does rotate. So I guess my condenser and/or points are shot. Just ordered them and will fit once arrived. FYI its a type 4 2l engine. The distributor has the vacuum on the side.
