Do your carbs fit with an OG fan housing?
I have aftermarket housing ATM as my ICT's don't fit with an OG one, but when I fit my DRLA's I'd like to fit an OG housing with a Vortex thing.

Thanks for looking. Any pictures you might like to post would be appreciated. :)

Thanks for that @Mini_Bungle - looks like you had to adjust the outlets for the filter bases with cross linkage gubbins?
As I have a centre linkage and filter bases without the linkage mounts would you think I'd get away without adjusting the outlets?

I had to get the smaller doghouse type, My original one just wouldn't fit without slightly persuading it with an hammer, I'd just had it all powder coated so i didn't wanna do that

  5. They do , but can be very close depending on combination of manifolds, etc ....

  6. yes the outlets only got in the way of the linkages not the carbs or the filters

  7. fit perfectly.....provided you take time to fit the housing and associated tinware properly.....this isn't meant to be a veiled dig at folk who've had issues...but there's a reason all those bits of tinware have slotted holes

Nah Nah your wrong i'm afraid, it really does depend on the manifolds you buy and not on taking time and holes ect ect, you could eat your dinner of my engine  it's mint  i took my time  and it don't fit  I obviously bought the one's where they don't fit, it's a common thing and a lot of people have had to buy the smaller dog house fan housing, this is also not a veiled dig but to be honest @vanorak your better off commenting on stuff you really do know about ;)

Sounds like I'll just have to suck it and see then. What manifolds do you have woody? I have some from deimos air cooled own make that are supposed to be a direct copy of the CSP offset ones.

  11. What manifolds are you using with the icts zed? I've got the basic empi's on mine and have no clearance issues.

We did a set at work the other week and went for the csp buts and had a nightmare getting them on. Ended up reshaping the edge of the fanhousing with the hitting sticks.

The air filters on that kit look much nicer than mine though

Iv'e got the feeling it was this kit I bought or one very similar, but this one says no clearance issues and mine has, also mine was about £200 a few years back

Empi manifolds awful things when you compare them to CSP ones. I wonder if there are different OG doghouse fan housings and some bulge out more than others.

Well those manifolds look just like the ones I have but it's hard to tell from a photo. I have an OG fan housing so I'll try it and see what happens. Was it the extra bit on the filters for the linkage that clashed like Mini-bungles or the carbs themselves?
Empi manifolds awful things when you compare them to CSP ones. I've only fitted ICT's with CSP mainfolds and aftermarket fan housings so in the dark about the OG fan housing situation. Most customers say buy an aftermarket housing if I warn them I may have to smash in the OG one. It's not easy to do neatly is it.

I wonder if there are different OG doghouse fan housings and some bulge out more than others.

  15. If your using empi manifolds then you are best to get them reworked
They are made from a strong good quality alloy but theres plenty of defects and restriction inside them

@zed The manifolds squeezed on, it was the carbs if i remember rightly, I've got my OG housing in the garage, powder coated black, it looks like new, i could be persuaded to sell it if you want one

I've already got 2 or three thanks and as you might know I like my engine to look used and not too shiney. :)

The best thing about the aftermarket fan housings is you don't need to hunt about for the parts to replace the flaps and thermostat because you can't fit them. :D

  19. Beaver next time your manifolds are off your engine for a week or so give me a shout
Those empi manifolds need some work to get them flowing to the best of there ability
