Go for good quality clay tiles not concrete they are carp , hold moisture loose there sheen and then the lichen and moss comes following ...copper stripping is an advantage with concrete tiles but it's a faff .
The best tiles you can buy are old reclaimed staffordshire blue tiles they are the ultimate . but agood modern equivalent are the hawkins Staffordshire blue tiles .

They are both expensive but they will never need any attention .

This was one of the few things that let the roofing trade down in my eyes. Every female looked like a movie star from up there on the scaffold. Oh ,,, just one other thing, we used to call it ‘’’ false advertising ‘’’ so you’re on the scaffold and you hear the unmistakable clippety clop clippety clop of high heels,,,, possibly stilletos,,, who knows  No not a horse,,,,, the slow rhythmic sound of a gracious young lady in heels, then when you look ,,, 99.999% of the time, it’s some old luvvy, just a bit unsteady in her blakey’d One inch heels.

Ozziedog,,,,,,,,, they’re all worth a big big smile :);):)
