Propex query !

Discussion in 'Mech Tech' started by 3901mick, Mar 29, 2018.

  1. It works fine when engine is off, seems to be ok when van is ticking over, if I start driving i get the red light flashing 3 times and it cuts off. Any ideas?? Voltage is 13.7 at leisure battery !!

  2. Too much airflow causing the flame to blow out or something like that.

  3. 3 flashes means voltage to low according to fault finding page in manual ?

  4. Ah right, weird.

  5. It does it when left overnight as well, I have put in thicker power feed and re done the earth hoping it was something as simple, it would seem not.

  6. Give propex a call I’ve heard there quite helpful

I would check the voltage at the propex and if you can check inside look for dull / corroded connections .. it might have got a bit damp.
Its easy to get 13.6 volts at the battery, harder to get the same at the load end of the wiring.

Barry Haynes I dance in leopard skin mankini’s

Connect it to the starter battery, see if it does it on that as well

    This gets my vote.

Could if also be too much voltage?

You got solar panel connected to leisure battery?

  11. Actually sounds like voltage is too high. ( not sure how) Measure voltage and speak to Propex. They are very helpful

  13. Ok. The people at Propex say a voltage spike or dip for a millisecond is enough. The instructions say 3 flashes of LED is voltage to low, 6 flashes voltage to high. I am certain that the unit thinks the voltage is too high even though it isnt and is doing 3 flashes. I have dropped the solar panel to 13.7v and it no longer comes up with the fault overnight. If I turn the fridge onto 12v it doesn't come up with the fault when you are running the engine !!!

  14. I was going to suggest using the fridge on 12v to draw the voltage down and see what occurred
Not sorted but at least you know what's happening . What you need is good old fashioned, none-computerised model ...
