  1. paying a professional to do the bodywork is likely to be very costly, someone on the forum mentioned he had spent 15k or so already getting his van restored, and was looking for other garages that wouldn't charge him so much to finish the body.

money must come into it unless there is a bottomless pit available.

and there is the cost of paint if it needs doing as well.

folks say they love their vans, but throwing money at them may not make sense especially if they have family to support.

learning to weld and get help and advice from here must be a better way.

  2. I agree...I'm on my own with 2 girls at 9 and 4 so unfortunately I haven't got a bottomless pit of money...I want to do it myself and plus u get some self satisfaction after u look back and think I've done that...anyway I'm going away in the summer with it how it is then I'm gonna crack on as soon as I get back hopefully...been looking into some part time welding courses on an evening or weekend but there doesn't seem to be any so looks like searching through the forum and YouTube lol

  3. How do u go about cutting the rail..do u go underneath the lip with a grinder ...?

Just a bit but get what you pay for, before I took it there another guy was doing the work on it,he was doing panels here and there as and when he could.i gradually started wondering if it was not a proper job and so took it to the place where it is now, what a shock that was, wasted a few thousand ££ on the work already done.its all been removed and getting done again properly this time.my bill so far is a bit over £15,000
