I agree entirely! Too much rubbing down of paintwork on Gusbus for us- seems like its taking an age with leaps and bounds or little progress for us, dpending on where we are working!!

this is "vanning" us out

  3. Seems I better learn how to be a trimmer too ! lol O0
so here goes nothing ..... trying to stick with 50's hot rod kinda look Ive opted for some white tuck and roll and nice chrome edge where it hits the red .. chrome door latches
A quick mock up on the floor

  4. Haha Amen to that Mork ! lol ..... this is the biggest project Ive ever undertaken , and im doing it in a muddy field , no power , hardly any tools , you drop something and its lost for good in the grass grrrr , oh Ive re named Lola quite a few times over the past months !! lol :p

Ive been beaten by the weather , had paint react because it wouldnt dry ... or be soooo hot filler go off before Ive even got near the van .... but it'll be worth it when she's on the road

  10. looking great dude

  11. very nice mate 8) particularly the steering wheel :)

..........I'm going to be painting my steering wheel, what products or paint did you use?

  12. Fella love them wheels

  13. Hey Diddymen .... The wheel was in a pretty bad state tbh , and another I dug out of the bin lol , wasn't sure how it was going to come out , but one way to find out hey
I wet and dryed all the rough bits till it was smooth all over and got myself some high build primer from ebay , asked for one I could brush on as wanted to put it on thick after 3 coats and a flat back it started to look resonable ....so I carried on
more wet and dry then a quick blast of Upol grey primer ( tin ) it was ready for top coat
I put this in the pile of bits to be glossed when I did the roof / bumpers .. for this I bought myself an earlex HVLP spray gun ... what an awesome bit of kit ! best £174 I ever spent .... Becuase Lola had sooo many different colours and layers ( think the matt black from the prev owner was halfords tins ) I decided to play safe and go for a Synthectic paint ( and primer - on the steering wheel ) hoping to save on reactions etc .. it worked out well and only the front bumper gave me grief ...

So the brush on primer was a high build synthetic , with Upol tins after it was sanded smooth , then I gave a blast with the creamy white from the gun :)

  14. Thanks Tintop

They've been the only thing to get me through the tough times , when it all got to much in the mud , rain , wind of our summer ( im in a tent in the field dont forget lol ) seeing how these wheels came out and knowing that they will give the look we were after gave me the kick to get going again O0

  15. Primed , and as ready as she'll ever be for some top coat .... decided to go for a satin colour , retro look and like 1950's Diner / hot rod era

Rubbing down n prepping must be one of the most tedious jobs around - its taking an age to do ours, we have got a long way on the big panels but the fiddly bits are taking forever!
